Smallville’s Tom Welling on Arrow, The Flash and whether he’d be interested in playing Superman on Supergirl

January 27, 2016 by Gary Collinson

During an interview with Buzzfeed, former Smallville star Tom Welling has offered a few words on the current crop of DC superhero TV shows, as well as revealing whether he’d have any interest in reprising the role of Kal-El on CBS’ Supergirl.

“I’m very proud of shows like Arrow and The Flash,” said Welling. “They’re able to ground these characters so that the viewer can relate on a human level to people who used to be only in two dimensions.”

Asked about a potential return as Clark Kent for Supergirl, Welling responded that: “There’s people who would like it. There’s people who don’t like it, but I will tell you that no one has ever asked me to do it. So, I don’t know. It would be kind of odd. I don’t know who he is at that point. He would obviously be Superman…”

As it happens, Supergirl has already cast Kal-El, with Daniel DiMaggio set to play a teenage version of the future Man of Steel in the February 8th episode ‘For the Girl Who Has Everything’.
