Sony remaking Bruce Willis / Kim Basinger rom-com Blind Date

August 6, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures is developing a remake of the 1987 romantic comedy Blind Date, which starred Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger.

The studio has hired Chris Hazzard and Michael Fontana, directors of the upcoming Drunk Bus, to pen a script for the remake, which will present a take on the modern world of dating.

The original Blind Date, directed by Blake Edwards, marked Willis’ first leading role and saw him playing a bachelor who ends up on a blind date with a woman whose increasingly wild and drunken behaviour leads to a disastrous night. The film was a critical failure, but proved to be a financial success.
