Sony rumoured to be developing an all-female Spider-Man spin-off entitled Glass Ceiling

October 31, 2014 by Gary Collinson

Back in August it was announced that Sony has set a “female-led” spin-off from The Amazing Spider-Man series for release in 2017; however, since then the studio’s plans for Marvel’s wall-crawler seems to have imploded, with a shadow hanging over another spin-off in Venom Carnage and rumours suggesting that Andrew Garfield could be out as Spidey for a soft reboot of the character in 2016’s The Sinister Six.

Now Bad Ass Digest is offering up another rumour, this time about the female-led spin-off, suggesting that an idea is being tossed around to have the project as “a team-up movie that would bring the female Spidey characters together.” Said project is apparently going by the working title of Glass Ceiling, and may or may not feature characters such as Black Cat, Silver Sable, Spider-Girl, Silk and even potentially Spider-Woman (assuming Sony has the rights, of course).

What do you make of this then? Could Glass Ceiling be the saviour of the Spidey franchise, or is Sony really scraping the bottom of the barrel?
