Spider-Man’s stay in the MCU may be short lived as it has been revealed that he may be departing once the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming has been released.
Fans had waited a long time to see Spider-Man finally join Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. The much loved superhero character had been handling things all by himself up until Sony and Marvel struck a deal to bring him into the fold.
Fans got a glimpse of what might be in store when Spidey showed up for the fight during Captain America: Civil War, and were surely expecting Tom Holland’s Peter Parker to stick around for a while.
Unfortunately, it seems like this might not be the case, as Spider-Man: Homecoming producer Amy Pascal mentioned to CosmicBookNews that the deal that took place was a rare thing and probably wouldn’t last.

“One of the things that I think is so amazing about this experience is that you don’t have studios deciding to work together to make a film very often,” Pascal explained. “In fact it may never happen again, after we do the sequel. Because Sony, and Disney, and Marvel all decided that the right thing to do was to allow Peter Parker and Spider-Man to be in the MCU and to work with the Marvel guys and have them produce this film”.
So there you have it. Perhaps the most important line said by Pascal being, “It may never happen again, after we do the sequel”.
This is certainly not the news fans wanted to here, but there were a few “ifs” and “maybes” thrown in there by Pascal so perhaps the character might just stick around.
As with most things, it surely depends on just how lucrative this team up turns out to be. Watch this space.
