Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Silver & Black production dates revealed

January 6, 2018 by Gary Collinson

After making his grand return to solo movies in last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which proved to be the highest-grossing superhero movie of the year with $880 million, the wall-crawler will kick off Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in July 2019, and now it seems we have some details on its production dates.

According to Omega Underground, the film – which reunites director Jon Watts with star Tom Holland – will begin filming on June 1st 2018, and shoot through to September. The production is expected to return to Atlanta, and may also shoot in Berlin, Germany, as the first movie did.

Little is known about the as-yet-untitled sequel, although it has been rumoured that Spider-Man love-interest Gwen Stacy will appear, and may even be reimagined as a foreign exchange student. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has also said that it will explore how the events of Avengers: Infinity War affect Peter Parker as he returns to Midtown for his junior year.

Meanwhile, in other Sony-related Spider-Man news, That Hashtag Show is reporting that the Silver & Black spinoff will start principal photography on March 5th, shooting through to June. The film – Sony’s second Spidey-spinoff after Venom – is being directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and will revolve around the two female characters Silver Sable and Black Cat. If the report is true, expect some official casting news in the very near future.

Silver & Black is slated for release on February 8th 2019, while the untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel will open in theaters on July 5th 2019.
