Star Racer to bring retro-inspired combat racing to Steam in March

January 25, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Whatnot Games has announced they will be releasing their retro-inspired combat racer Star Racer on 8th March, they will also be releasing a playable demo on Steam during the upcoming Steam Next Fest. This hark back to the classic racers such as F-Zero also features music tracks composed by Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie, GoldenEye 007).

There’s nothing quite like a combat racer and Star Racer will let you speed, drift, soar and shoot their way round cosmic circuits.  There is both ground and air combat to add to the adrenaline-fuelled thrill that players will experience.

Players will be able to get three other friends and hone their skills in four player local multiplayer, with the game’s Versus Mode providing the ultimate test of friendship.  During the upcoming Steam Next Fest, players will be able to compete with others for the top spot on the Death Race leaderboards.

Other features of Star Racer include:

  • Intense battles relying on drifts, boosts and speed to be successful and survive.
  • Take on enemies both on the track and while soaring above it.
  • Don’t stick to the base tracks, let loose with the creativity with the game’s track editor. Create your own circuits and share them with friends.
  • Tracks are filled with hazards, such as lava pits and slippery icy patches, that add challenge to the levels.
  • Choose from a variety of different vehicles with each having their own set of strengths and weaknesses.
  • Race around to a musical score composed by the legendary Grant Kirkhope, the chap behind the music to Banjo-Kazooie and Mario & Rabbids.

Look out for Star Racer arriving on Steam this March and download the playable demo this coming Steam Next Fest.
