With just a few days to go until the hotly-anticipated premiere of CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery, director and Star Trek: The Next Generation star Jonathan Frakes has revealed that the new series will be following in the footsteps of The Original Series, Deep Space Nine and Enterprise by featuring a Mirror Universe episode.

The Mirror Universe is a parallel universe where humanity has formed the Terran Empire and conquered many alien races. It first featured in the second season episode of The Original Series ‘Mirror, Mirror’, and was later revisited in Deep Space Nine and the two-part Enterprise episode ‘In a Mirror, Darkly’.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.
Star Trek: Discovery premieres on September 24th on CBS and on September 25th on Netflix.
