Star Wars Celebration 2020 cancelled, won’t return until 2022

June 15, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Lucasfilm has announced that it has cancelled the Star Wars Celebration 2020 convention, with the massively popular Star Wars gathering not returning until August 18th to 21st, 2022.

Back in April, Lucasfilm announced they planned to go ahead with this year’s event in August, but due to the on-going global health crisis, it’s simply not safe to do so. The organizers of Star Wars Celebration released the following statement:

“To our Star Wars Celebration fans and friends. At Star Wars Celebration, the health and safety of our fans, attendees, exhibitors, guests, and staff is always our number one priority. Due to the global impact of the COVID-19 virus and in speaking with local and state authorities on the latest public health guidelines related to indoor conventions, we have made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration for 2020. While this news is disappointing, we are happy to announce that Star Wars Celebration will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 18-21, 2022.”

Attendees who purchased tickets to this year’s event can either transfer their current ticket purchase to the new event dates, receive a refund, or receive a credit for Star Wars Celebration merchandise.

The ticket refund and merchandise credit request period is said to open on Monday, June 22nd, and will need to be completed by August 26th.
