Star Wars Rebels season 4 confirmed by Lucasfilm and Disney

March 3, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Good news for fans of Star Wars Rebels, as Lucasfilm and Disney have confirmed that the animated series has been renewed for a fourth season, which will get underway later this year.

“The team behind Star Wars Rebels delivers epic storytelling that has captivated fans of all ages across the globe,” says Marc Buhaj, Disney XD’s senior vice president, programming and general manager. “We’re excited to continue sharing the journey of these fan-favorite rebels with our audience in the fall.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Star Wars Rebels, the Disney XD show takes place prior to the events of A New Hope, and follows a small Rebel cell as they battle the Empire. In addition to our heroes, the show has also featured appearances from Star Wars characters such as Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Yoda, Lando Calrissian, Wedge Antilles, R2-D2 and C-3PO, Saw Gerrera, Captain Rex, Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul, as well as introducing the beloved EU character Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Mon Mothma is set to feature in this weekend’s episode, while the March 18th episode ‘Twin Suns’ will see Maul venturing to Tattooine for a showdown with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
