Star Wars: The High Republic delayed until 2021

It’s not just films and TV shows which are being delayed as a result of the global health crisis, as the official Star Wars website has announced that Lucasfilm is pushing back the launch of its new publishing initiative Star Wars: The High Republic into 2021.

“Given these unprecedented times, we have made the decision to move the launch to January 2021 to ensure that the launch is as grand and epic as it deserves to be,” states Lucasfilm Publishing creative director Michael Siglain in a letter posted to fans:

Star Wars: The High Republic will now launch on January 5th 2021 with the release of Charles Soule’s Star Wars: The High Republic: Light of the Jedi and Justina Ireland’s Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage, followed by Claudia Gray’s Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark on February 2nd 2021. New launch dates for Marvel’s Star Wars: The High Republic and IDW’s Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic books will be revealed at a later date.

Star Wars: The High Republic will take place some 200 years prior to Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and promises to feature “new worlds, new foes, new heroes, and new adventures.”
