Star Wars: The Mandalorian season 3 already in the works

April 22, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Before the second season of the massively successful Disney+ show debuts, it seems like fans will already see more of The Mandalorian. Sources close to Variety say that the streaming show is moving ahead with plans for a third season.

Variety is reporting that sources close to the production have confirmed that creator Jon Favreau has worked on “season 3 for a while,” and that the art department, led by Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang, has crafted concepts for Season 3 during “for the past few weeks.”

“We’ve just started pre-production and are looking into further adventures for the Mandalorian in Season 3,” revealed one source to the trade.

It’s also reported that the production design department began working on season 3 as early as April 20, pointing to the fact the department requires “such a huge lead time” to explain why “the gears have started grinding really early on.”

The news of a third season of the hit Star Wars-based show comes just over a month after production wrapped on Season 2, with filming coming to an end just before many studios shut down sets due to the on-going global health crisis.
