State of Decay 3 is back with a brand new trailer

June 10, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Four years after its initial announcement, State of Decay 3 is back with a brand new trailer.  Debuting at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, this new trailer features all the things we love about the State of Decay franchise and you can see it below….

There was nothing like the thrill of creeping up on a zombie and giving it a whack on the head with a hefty weapon and the trailer doesn’t hold back on all the things we found satisfying in the previous titles, stealthy kills, juicy head shots and not giving zombies the chance to stand back up.  Building a community of survivors has also been a feature of the previous games, and it looks like this focus of building a community and supporting other survivors is set to continue with up to 4 player multiplayer.

The trailer description states that State of Decay 3 is “Set years after a zombie apocalypse nearly wiped out humankind”, so maybe we are no longer confined to Trumbull Valley, but neither does it seem is the Blood Plague, as towards the end of the trailer the survivors drive onto a bridge clearly dominated by the plague.

One thing of note is the size of the Juggernaut zombie, his yellow eyes suggest he is not one that has been enhanced by the Blood Plague but he is remarkably larger than what we have been used to. If Juggernauts have become bigger and deadlier can the same be said about the Bloaters, Screamers and the Ferals?  We’ll have to wait to find out.

No release date has been announced for State of Decay 3 but it is likely to arrive on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
