Fresh from his SAG Awards nomination earlier this week, This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown has signed on to star in The Fence, a drama in the works at Fox Searchlight.
Variety reports that the film will tell the true story of Michael Cox, an African-American undercover police officer who is mistaken for a suspect and brutally beaten by his own police force. As he seeks answers and justice, Cox finds himself on the other side of the “blue wall of silence” as the Boston Police Department covers up the incident.
The Fence is based upon the book by Boston Globe journalist Dick Lehr (Black Mass) and has Peter Nicks (The Force) attached to direct from a script by George Pelecanos (The Wire) and Dennis Lehane (Mr. Mercedes). Filming on the movie is expected to take place during the next production hiatus on This Is Us in the spring.
