Steve Carell explains why he won’t return to The Office

December 21, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Steve Carell has made clear that he isn’t interested in a reunion of The Office and he discussed why in a recent interview.

There is no question that The Office is one of the most beloved TV shows in modern history. The Steve Carell led comedy continues to delight fans to this day despite its run ending back in 2013.

This love for the show has led many to plea for the series to return but Carell isn’t interested in the idea. Explaining to Collider why he thinks it just wouldn’t work, the actor said:

“I feel like I’m a broken record, talking about this because I get asked about it. The show is way more popular now than when it was on the air. I just can’t see it being the same thing, and I think most folks would want it to be the same thing, but it wouldn’t be. Ultimately, I think it’s maybe best to leave well enough alone and just let it exist as what it was. You’d literally have to have all of the same writers, the same producers, the same directors, and the same actors, and even with all of those components, it just wouldn’t be the same.”

There may be a lot of truth to Carell’s comments, perhaps some things are better left in the past. After all, we can still enjoy the original episodes. What do you think? Could The Office recapture the magic if it returned? Let us know in the comments below…
