Supergirl behind-the-scenes image featuring Laurie Metcalf, show may be casting Lois Lane

January 19, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Fresh from her acclaimed turn in Lady Bird, Laurie Metcalf is heading to National City for a guest role in the third season of Supergirl, and People has shared a behind-the-scenes image of the actress on set alongside Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist.

“I’m so thrilled to be here on the set of Supergirl!” Metcalf tells the outlet. “My daughter, Mae, and I are huge fans of the show and it was her dream to meet Melissa. I’m incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to bring Mae to work with me as I take on the guest role of Mary McGowan.”

Meanwhile, it looks like Supergirl may be looking to add another classic Superman character, with Omega Underground reporting that audition tapes are circulating for the role of the Daily Planet’s intrepid reporter Lois Lane. She has of course been mentioned numerous times, while the show has also featured both her sister Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) and father General Sam Lane (Glenn Morshower), so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Lois making an appearance in the series.
