Superman: Red Son first look image and voice cast revealed

September 20, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Warner Bros. Animation has released the above first look image from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies adaptation of Mark Millar’s acclaimed Superman: Red Son comic book – an ‘Elseworlds’ tale which explores what might have been had the Last Son of Krypton landed in the former Soviet Union, rather than a farm in Smallville, Kansas.

As revealed by TV Insider, the voice cast for Superman: Red Son will include Jason Isaacs (Star Trek: Discovery) as Superman, Amy Acker (The Gifted) as Lois Lane, Diedrich Bader (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) as Lex Luthor, Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels) as Wonder Woman, Phil Morris (Doom Patrol) as James Olsen, Paul Williams (Goliath) as Brainiac, Sasha Roiz (Grimm) as Hal Jordan, Phil LaMarr (Supergirl) as John Stewart, Roger Craig Smith (Batman Ninja) as Batman, Jim Meskimen (Constantine: City of Demons) as John F. Kennedy and Travis Willingham (Batman: Bad Blood) as Superior Man.

Published in 2003, Superman: Red Son reimagines the Man of Steel with the infant Kal-El crash landing in the Soviet Union as opposed to Smallville, where he is raised to be “the Champion of the common worker who fights a never-ending battle for Stalin, socialism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact.”

The animated movie is slated for release in early 2020.
