Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger get an Escape Plan

April 10, 2013 by admin

Considering the poor box office performance of Bullet to the Head and The Last Stand, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have a lot riding on their upcoming collaboration, with another flop likely to seriously impact the standing of both aging action icons as they approach the twilight stage of their careers. And when said film is called The Tomb, well the headlines would just write themselves, so it’s not too surprising to learn that the prison break thriller has now undergone a change of title, and will instead hit cinemas as Escape Plan.

The Tomb Escape Plan is directed by Mikael Håfström (1408, The Rite) and sees Stallone as Ray Breslin, the world’s foremost authority on structural security, who finds himself incarcerated in an escape-proof prison of his own design. Inside he meets Church (Arnie), “a complex inmate with multiple shades of grey” (and not just in his hair and goatee), and presumably the two Expendables co-stars then team up to break free. Also featuring in the cast are Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest), Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson (Real Steel), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Vincent D’Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and Vinnie Jones (X-Men: The Last Stand).

The North American release of Escape Plan has been moved forward to September 13th, but as far as we can tell it’s still due to open in the UK on September 27th.
