Sylvester Stallone superhero thriller Samaritan gets a trailer

July 27, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

Ahead of its premiere on Prime Video this August, the first trailer has been released for the superhero thriller Samaritan.

Directed by Julius Avery, the film follows 13-year-old Sam (Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton) as he learns that his mysterious neighbour Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a super-powered vigilante who was reported dead 20 years earlier, and sets out to coax the hero out of hiding to save their city from ruin; watch the trailer below…

Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis.

Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

Joining Stallone and Walton in the cast of Samaritan are Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias.

Samaritan is launching globally on Prime Video on August 26th.
