Tara Reid set for “modern-day Psycho” thriller and British spy film

February 19, 2022 by Gary Collinson

American Pie and Sharknado actress Tara Reid has signed on to star in Sheila, a psychological thriller described as a modern-day take on the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Psycho.

As reported by EW, Sheila follows the titular character, “a bikini competition contestant, and Charlie, who’s running her family’s motel for the week. Mysterious events involving a sunken car in the motel pool are complicated further by Charlie’s blurring of fact and fiction as the timeline jumps between July 1989 and the present day.”

Reid is set to portray Deb, the chain-smoking owner of the gym next door to the motel, who “spends her days checking out what’s going on, which is usually nothing. Until this week.” The film has been scripted by Jackie and Jennifer Moricz, but is yet to attach a director.

Meanwhile, in a busy week for Reid, she’s also added the British espionage thriller Cold Sun to her upcoming slate. The film – “described as Cagney and Lacey with a difference” will see Reid playing Marsha Ravencourt, an inexperienced MI6 agent who joins forces with equally inexperienced Interpol agent to take down an international gang of criminals.

Cold Sun is set to shoot in the UK and Malta this summer, with Reid starring alongside Patrick Bergin (Patriot Games), Rita Tushingham (Last Night in Soho), Ian Ogilvy (Death Becomes Her) and Gabriella Wright (The Transporter Refuelled).
