Tekken X Street Fighter is still alive, says Namco

July 28, 2014 by Tom Powter

The much anticipated crossover fighting game Tekken X Street Fighter hasn’t been cancelled.

That’s according to a statement released by Bandai Namco producer Katsuhiro Harada at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, who claimed that the project was still alive, saying that it’s “still in development and it’s still moving forward,” in response to a fan’s query. Tekken X Street Fighter was first announced in 2010.

As if to put out the fire, Harada went on to say, “It is proceeding. It hasn’t been canceled, so please relax.”

Interestingly, Bandai Namco revealed Tekken 7 just earlier this month [watch the SDCC trailer here]. The game will utilise Unreal Engine 4 and continue to follow the Mishima storyline. What this game’s announcement means for Tekken X Street Fighter is unclear, but at least on Harada’s words, you should see the crossover eventually. While it could be that Tekken 7’s development pushed the game back, Harada believes it is up to marketing to decide on a release window.
