Terminator Genisys crosses $400 million worldwide

August 30, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It may have stumbled at the North American box office with just $89.5 million, but Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions’ Terminator Genisys has pushed its worldwide gross to $409.5 million, topping the international box office for the second weekend in a row thanks to its continued strong performance in China.

This weekend saw Genisys adding a further $23.6 million from 25 markets, with $23.4 million of that coming from China, where it has so far earned $82.8 million since it debuted last Sunday and scored the fourth-biggest ever opening day for a Hollywood movie.

Before its opening in China, Genisys had been perceived as a box office flop, but is now closing in on Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’ $433.4 million gross, which would place it second behind Terminator 2: Judgment Day ($519.8 million) in terms of the franchise’s biggest earners.

Oh, and it’s also the tenth-biggest movie of 2015. So, how long until we get confirmation on a sequel?
