Things are not all right in Point Place, Wisconsin as Netflix has cancelled That ’90s Show after two seasons.
That ’90s Show was a sequel series to That ’70s Show, following Kitty and Red Forman having to deal with a new generation of youths when their granddaughter Leia visits during the summer and makes friends with the local kids. Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith reprised their fan-favourite roles as Kitty and Red respectively, exploring their lives as grandparents and further adjusting to the changing times.
The series focused on Eric and Donna’s daughter Leia and her friends, but it also saw the return of several original ’70s Show cast including main stars Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderama, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis for a few special guest appearances and other familiar faces such as Tommy Chong, Don Stark, Jim Rash and Seth Green.
While Netflix has not given a reason for its cancellation, it can be drawn from its dwindling viewership. The first season proved to be very popular on the streaming service, but this summer saw the release of the first half of season two (which they promoted as Part 2) and it did not gain as much traction as the first season, forcing Netflix to move up the rest of season two (Part 3) from an October premiere to August. Neither half of season two’s views were satisfying for Netflix.
Though Netflix has cancelled That ’90s Show, Smith revealed on Instagram the show will be shopped around to other networks and streamers in the hope of getting picked up again as he said “To steal Red Forman’s words…we aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from high school.”

That ’90s Show starred Kurtwood Smith, Debra Jo Rupp, Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi and Sam Morelos.
