The Batman reportedly targeting November production start date

January 6, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although director Matt Reeves had previously suggested that he’d like to begin production on The Batman in May, a report from THR is suggesting that Warner Bros. is now looking to start principal photography on the long-gestating Dark Knight solo movie in November.

According to the site, Reeves has pretty much completed the script, but will continue to tweak it throughout the year. There’s still no word as to whether Ben Affleck will return to as the Caped Crusader, but unconfirmed rumours suggest that the screenplay features a younger Batman and as such the expectation is that the role will be recast.

War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves signed on to write and direct The Batman after Ben Affleck decided to vacate the director’s chair last year. Since then, we’ve been inundated with rumour and speculation about Affleck’s status, while a number of actors have been mentioned as possible replacements including Jake Gyllenhaal, Jack Huston and Kit Harington.

If this report proves accurate and filming on The Batman does begin in November, then presumably Warner Bros. will be looking at a 2021 release date for the movie.

Do you want to see Ben Affleck returning for The Batman? If not, who is your pick to don the cape and cowl? Let us know in the comments…
