The Batman will reportedly resume filming in September but won’t shoot on location anymore

July 14, 2020 by Samuel Brace

The Batman won’t shoot on location anymore when it resumes shooting in September according to a report.

The global health crisis has upended many a plan in Hollywood and this includes the shooting schedule for The Batman. The film isn’t back underway quite yet and when it does comes back, it won’t be in the same way if an industry insider is to be believed.

According to Kris Tapley, the host of Netflix’s The Call Sheet podcast, The Batman will resume filming in September but the movie won’t shoot on location anymore, instead opting to create sets in the studio.

Posting on Twitter, Tapley said: “Hearing THE BATMAN picks back up in September. All locations scrapped. Building everything in studio now.”

If true, this is presumably being done for safety reasons as it is easier to control an indoor environment that they have created rather than an actual real-life location.

The set-design on the film will surely be top-notch so don’t expect to notice anything on camera but this is an interesting insight to how studios are learning to adapt to these new circumstances.
