The Book of Life director signs on for LEGO’s Billion Brick Race movie

August 3, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Jorge Gutierrez, director of The Book of Life, has signed on to develop and direct The Billion Brick Race, a new animated movie from Warner Bros. and The LEGO Group.

The Billion Brick Race was first announced back in 2015, with Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) and Jason Segel (The Muppets) penning the script, although it seems both of those have now departed the project. Plot details are being kept firmly under wraps.

Following the success of The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie, Warner Bros. has several features in its LEGO franchise incoming, with The LEGO Ninjago Movie set to open in September and The LEGO Movie Sequel slated for February 2019.
