The CW orders Black Lightning to series

May 11, 2017 by Jordan Jones

The CW is going to be adding yet another superhero series to its network lineup, as Black Lightning has officially been ordered to series.

Black Lightning stars Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie) as the titular character, and it will stand alongside Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash, continuing to make The CW the premiere cable network for DC Comic properties. Here is Black Lightning’s synopsis, provided by TVLine:

“Black Lightning stars Williams as a retired superhero named Jefferson Pierce, who finds himself back in vigilante mode thanks to his justice-seeking daughter and the threat of a star student being recruited by a local gang. The series also stars Nefessa Williams (Code Black), China Anne McClain (Descendants 2), and Christine Adams (Terra Nova).”

Black Lightning is being executive produced by Arrow’s Greg Berlanti, as well as Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil (Being Mary Jane), and Sarah Schechter (The Flash). There is no official premiere date at this time.
