Go! Go Power Rangers! It’s Morphin’ Time with the latest trailer for Power Rangers which hits cinemas this March [watch the trailer here]. The last trailer wasn’t very well received by our writers when it was released last year, but this trailer features more action, Zordon, Alpha 5, Goldar and Putty Monsters – so can it win over some of its doubters?

Chris Cooper: Loved it! Obviously nostalgia is a factor but this looks really well handled for a YA story based on am American show that used Japanese footage. The suits look good in motion and I’m liking the design of the Command Centre, Zordon and Alpha 5. More than happy to wait for more in the cinema now.

Ricky Church: It definitely looks like a lot of fun and, despite what people have thought based on the first trailer and other comments, doesn’t seem to take itself too seriously either. I’m left with a better impression about it than I was a few months ago. As Chris said, the suits look better in motion than they do in still photos and Elizabeth Banks looks like she’s going to steal the show.

Luke Owen: It’s no secret that I hated the first trailer and felt it was a perfect example of Hollywood’s ‘I want one of those comic book films’ mentality. This trailer, on the other hand, is fantastic. It doesn’t do anything to alleviate any of my issues from the first trailer – horrible acting, terrible dialogue, awful characters – but it did feature giant monsters and giant robots fighting each other. So I’m all in!

Villordsutch: I’m not a Power Rangers fan at all, I despised the first trailer for it bored me stupid. Still I’m not a fan with the second trailer, though I will say it was far more fun than the first and clearly here it’s now looking like a Power Rangers movie. I’m not a fan, but they’ve certainly done better with this trailer than the last heap of dross.

James Garcia: I thought this trailer was… fine. It was hard watching it after seeing the trailer for Logan, for obvious reasons. I do think it looks better than I expected a big studio Power Rangers reboot to look, but it does look like it’ll fall into typical overblown CGI trappings we’re so familiar with most films like this.

Helen Murdoch: Good God this film looks so bad. Cheesy, badly acted and bad CGI. Think I’ll give this one a miss!

Jordan J. Jones: I’ve watched it twice, and definitely enjoyed it more the second time around… now that I’ve had a chance to adjust my expectations. Sadly, it all seems to fall apart once the Rangers actually hit the screen. Something about it feels clunky. Transformers levels of clunky. Maybe it’s just the bad CGI. The cast doesn’t seem bad… Zordon is cool, and Alpha 5 is much cooler in action than I thought he would be. Rita is pretty wicked too. It’s just everything else, really… and that’s supposed to be the best part!

Saban’s POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Power Rangers is set for release on March 24th 2017 and will star Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, Bill Hader as Alpha 5 and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa.
