The Mandalorian is the most-pirated TV show of 2020

January 7, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

For the best part of the past decade Game of Thrones has topped the annual list of the most pirated shows on television, but with HBO’s epic fantasy series now over (until the House of the Dragon spinoff, anyway), a new champion has been crowned in 2020.

After placing third last year with its first season, Disney+’s Star Wars series The Mandalorian proved not only a hit with subscribers but also pirates, with Torrent Freak revealing that the show topped Amazon’s The Boys and HBO’s Westworld to the title of most-pirated TV show of 2020.

Here’s the full top ten, with the previous year’s position in brackets:

1. The Mandalorian (3)
2. The Boys (-)
3. Westworld (-)
4. Vikings (4)
5. Star Trek: Picard (-)
6. Rick and Morty (8)
7. The Walking Dead (6)
8. The Outsider (-)
9. Arrow (10)
10. The Flash (7)

The Mandalorian season two sees the returning Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Bill Burr (Mayfield), and Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) joined by the likes of Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones), Katee Sackhoff (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Michael Biehn (The Terminator), Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), and WWE Superstar Sasha Banks.
