The Monsterverse to return in 2027 with Godzilla x Kong sequel

July 1, 2024 by EJ Moreno

It takes time to perfect a giant kaiju experience, and Warner Bros. and Legendary have given themselves plenty of breathing room for the next chapter of the MonsterVerse.

If you’re looking forward to the third Godzilla x Kong, fear not as it has now been confirmed that the new film will be released on March 26th, 2027. This marks the third entry in the “Godzilla & Kong” sub-franchise and the sixth overall film in the Monsterverse.

At the moment, it seems like the franchise is hotter than ever. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire pulled in over $570 million worldwide – the highest-grossing film of the entire Monsterverse so far.

As we’ve previously reported, Grant Sputore has been hired to direct the follow-up to this year’s Godzilla x Kong. He’ll helm this film based on a script penned by Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse).

At the time of reporting, no plot or actors are set for this new film.
