Video Review – The Problems With Hocus Pocus 2

October 1, 2022 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno with a video review of Hocus Pocus 2…

Hocus Pocus 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 90s cult classic, is finally here. Sadly, critic EJ Moreno finds the film lacking a unique charm that made the original movie special.

Throughout the runtime of Hocus Pocus 2, we see the filmmakers and actors trying to recapture the original’s magic; not even these witches can conjure up that spell. Camp can not be manufactured, same with nostalgia as well. In this review, check out what our critic feels are the problems and how they teased a prequel that could’ve been the better choice.

It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now Hallow’s to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.

Directed by Anne Fletcher, Hocus Pocus 2 sees the return of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, and Doug Jones alongside newcomers Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belisa Escobedo, Hannah Waddingham, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Paige Henderson, and Nina Kitchen.

Hocus Pocus 2 is streaming on Disney+.
