The Sandman extended clips feature Dream, Lucifer and Death

July 27, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

With a little over a week to go until The Sandman arrives on Netflix, two new clips have been released for the long-awaited small screen adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic book series.

The first sees Tom Sturridge’s Dream and his raven Matthew pay a visit to Hell to confront Gwendoline Christie’s Lucifer Morningstar, while the second features Kirby Howell-Baptiste’s Death as she pays a visit to an elderly man to claim his soul.

There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.

The Sandman stars Tom Sturridge (Irma Vep) as Dream, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) as Lucifer, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Roderick Burgess, Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) as The Corinthian, Patton Oswalt (Happy!) as the voice of Matthew the Raven, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place) as Death, Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) as Ethel Cripps, Mason Alexander Park (Cowboy Bebop) as Desire and David Thewlis (Harry Potter) as John Dee.

The Sandman will premiere on Netflix on Friday, August 5th.
