The Sandman live-action adaptation gets a first trailer from Netflix

As part of Netflix’s Geeked Week event, the streamer has shared the first trailer for The Sandman, the decades-long awaited adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic book series.

Check out the trailer below along with two new character posters featuring Tom Struddige’s Dream, Jenna Coleman’s Johanna Constantine and Boyd Holbrook’s The Corinthian…

The Lord of Dreams has been summoned and captured by mortal men. Once free from his captivity, this eternal ruler of Dreams will realize that his troubles are only just beginning.

The Sandman is a Netflix series based on the groundbreaking comic book series created for DC by Neil Gaiman. The series is Executive Produced by Neil Gaiman, Allan Heinberg, & David S. Goyer.

Featuring in the cast of The Sandman are Tom Sturridge (Sweetbitter) as Dream, Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones) as Lucifer, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Roderick Burgess, Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) as The Corinthian, Patton Oswalt (Happy!) as the voice of Matthew the Raven, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place) as Death, Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as Johanna Constantine, Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) as Ethel Cripps, Mason Alexander Park (Cowboy Bebop) as Desire, David Thewlis (Harry Potter) as John Dee, and Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as the voice of Merv Pumpkinhead.

The Sandman will premiere on Netflix on August 5th.
