The Walking Dead season 8 premiere is a thank you letter to fans

October 19, 2017 by Samuel Brace

The premiere episode of The Walking Dead season 8 is apparently a thank you letter to the fans.

The first episode of the new season is just around the corner, and fans are anticipating what the hit zombie show has in store for them this time around. The show isn’t quite as popular as it once was but the series’ producers want to thank those that are still with the show in season 8’s opener.

Executive producer Greg Nicotero has told Variety that the 100th episode is “a thank-you letter” for those that have stuck around since the beginning.

“There are probably two or three sequences in the first episode that I was particularly excited about doing that people will instantly recognize. It’s sort of a thank-you letter for people who have been with us all along and nodding to little things here and there. Some of them might be a little more obvious, and some of them might be super subtle.”

This of course begs the question of what these sequences will entail and what call-backs to earlier events might occur in the episode.

Of course, the main thing fans will be worrying about is that the premiere episode kicks the season off with a bang, paving the way for an exciting story to come.
