Well, George Lucas has finally answered the question: “Han Solo was going to marry Leia, and you look back and say, ‘Should he be a cold-blooded killer?’ Because I was thinking mythologically — should he be a cowboy, should he be John Wayne? And I said, ‘Yeah, he should be John Wayne.’ And when you’re John Wayne, you don’t shoot people [first] — you let them have the first shot. It’s a mythological reality that we hope our society pays attention to…”
…Carrie Fisher has been talking about the controversy over her ‘slave Leia’ outfit. If you recall back in July, a father complained that his local Target store was selling an action figure of Princess Leia in her slave outfit from Return of the Jedi, which was then followed by rumours that Disney planed to retire the image from all upcoming Star Wars products and merchandise. But Fisher just thinks this is all a bit silly. “I think it’s stupid,” Fisher said. “The father who flipped out about it, ‘What am I going to tell my kid about why she’s in that outfit?’ Tell them that a giant slug captured me and forced me to wear that stupid outfit, and then I killed him because I didn’t like it.
