The Witch director wraps filming on The Lighthouse starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson

November 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in February of this year it was announced that director Robert Eggers (The Witch) had enlisted Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe for the seafaring horror The Lighthouse, and now comes word from IndieWire that the film has wrapped production ready for release in 2019.

Speaking to Interview Magazine, Pattinson and Dafoe have also been chatting about their experience on the film, and the demands the shoot put on them:

“That’s the closest I’ve come to punching a director,” said Pattinson. “However much I love Robert [Eggers], there was a point where I did five takes walking across the beach, and after a while I was like, ‘What the fuck is going on? I feel like you’re just spraying a fire hose in my face.’ And he was like, ‘I am spraying a fire hose in your face.’ It was like some kind of torture. It definitely creates an interesting energy.”

“It’s funny, because when [Robert Pattinson] and I shot The Lighthouse together, the conditions were so harsh that we hardly talked outside of scenes,” added Dafoe.

Plot details on The Lighthouse are being kept tightly under wraps, but it has been revealed that the film takes place in Nova Scotia in 1890 and features an aging lighthouse keeper called Old.
