The X-Files revival nearing the greenlight at Fox, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to return

March 22, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in January it was revealed that talks were underway about a potential revival for the cult 1990s series The X-Files, which would reunite David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

Now TV Wise is reporting that Fox is close to giving the green light to the project with a short order of reportedly less than ten episodes, which is due both to scheduling issues with Duchovny and Anderson (who are both said to be officially on board) and creator Chris Carter’s desire to “close out the lingering storylines left by the series proper”.

In addition to the two leads, it is also said that an offer has gone out to Mitch Pileggi, who played Mulder and Scully’s boss, A.D. Skinner. Apparently “other key cast members will also return.” The report also states that Fox is hoping to close the relevant deals soon so that a big announcement can be made ahead of their upfront presentation in New York in May.
