Tom Cruise announces Mission: Impossible 7 title

April 29, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

The Mission: Impossible franchise had attempted the impossible by continuing to shoot throughout much of the pandemic, leading to reports that the budget for the seventh intallment had ballooned to around $290 million, but now that the eighth film in the blockbuster franchise is officially in-production, Tom Cruise has used a break in filming to announce what the sequels will be called during Paramount’s CinemaCon panel. The title, should you choose to accept it, will be Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

It doesn’t take IMF level detective skills to then work out that Mission Impossible 8 will subsequently be called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two. The sequels, which were originally meant to be filmed back-to-back, will now release on July 14, 2023, and June 28, 2024, respectively.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and features the returning team of Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Henry Czerny, along with new additions Esai Morales (Titans), Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Mark Gatiss (The League of Gentlemen), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Charles Parnell (The Last Ship), and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride).

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is set for release on July 14th 2023, followed by Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two on June 28th 2024.
