Tom Cruise does another insane Mission: Impossible stunt, this time by hanging upside down on a biplane

December 2, 2021 by EJ Moreno

While Mission: Impossible 7 awaits its release date later in 2022, Tom Cruise is already busy filming his next crazy movie stunt.

Recent photos from the set show Tom Cruise flying a 1941 Boeing B75N1 Stearman biplane and then hanging off the wing as it makes a mid-air loop. We have no idea why Cruise’s Ethan Hunt is in this dangerous position, but fans of the Mission: Impossible movies have learned not to question the insanity.

The original plan for Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 was to film them back-to-back, but that changed as the seventh installment had a grueling production. The production had several delays and shifted locations due to the pandemic. The now-infamous Tom Cruise mask rant also came from this production as well. Given the multiple delays and sheer exhaustion, the production took a few months off to recoup, but now Cruise is back and bolder than ever.

Mission: Impossible 7 is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and features returning stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, and Henry Czerny, along with new additions Esai Morales (Titans), Hayley Atwell (Avengers: Endgame), Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire), Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Mark Gatiss (Sherlock), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Charles Parnell (The Last Ship), and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride).

Mission: Impossible 7 is currently slated for September 2022 followed by Mission: Impossible 8 in July 2023.
