At the moment, few details are known about the fifth entry in the live-action Transformers film series and exactly who Hopkins will be playing, but reports say that the actor has signed on for an on-screen part, and he will not be voicing one of the film’s many alien robots.

Although best known for his work as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Red Dragon, the actor also has appeared and been praised for his performances in such films as The Elephant Man, The Remains of the Day, Nixon and Amistad.

Additionally, Hopkins is no stranger to major Transformers-like blockbusters, as he has portrayed Thor’s father, Odin, in both Thor and Thor: The Dark World and is set to his role in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.

The actor can be seen in a number of future projects, including HBO’s TV show Westworld, Collide and Official Secrets.

Transformers: The Last Knight reunites Michael Bay with Transformers: Age of Extinction star Mark Wahlberg, while Josh Duhamel is also reprising his role as Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox from the first three movies, and Peter Cullen is confirmed to once again voice Autobot leader Optimus Prime. So far, the only other new additions to the cast announced are Isabela Moner (100 Things to Do Before High School) and Jerrod Carmichael (Bad Neighbours).

Transformers: The Last Knight is set for release on June 23rd, 2017.
