Venture into the Suicide Forest Village with trailer for The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu’s new horror

February 20, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

With a little over a week to go until its release, a poster and trailer have arrived online for Ju-On: The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu’s latest supernatural thriller Suicide Forest Village.

Inspired by the Aokigahara Forest near Mt. Fuji, the film centres on a group of friends who unwittingly unleash a curse that can only be broken by venturing deep into the Jukai Village; check out the trailer below, along with the poster and synopsis…

From the Director of The Grudge comes a terrifying, supernatural tale inspired by an infamous Japanese forest known for its frequent suicides and disappearances. A group of unsuspecting friends stumble upon a mysterious box and a curse begins to spread. To break the curse, the group must venture to the source of the box deep within the Jukai Forest. It’s said that the land holds a grudge against trespassers where once you enter, you have no hope of escaping with your life.

Suicide Forest Village arrives on digital platforms on March 1st and features a cast that includes Jun Kunimura (Kill Bill Vol. 1), Yumi Adachi (Tokyo Vampire Hotel) and Asuka Kurosawa (Silence).
