Video Game Review – Styx: Shards of Darkness

March 14, 2017 by Lewy Buck

Lewy Buck reviews Styx: Shards of Darkness…

Back in 2014 Cyanide studios and Focus home interactive gave us Styx: Master of shadows, a game that received mixed to positive reviews but personally I felt, was incredibly underrated. Fast forward to 2017 and both developer and publisher are back with its sequel, Styx: Shards of Darkness where you once again take control of the goblin assassin Styx to fight, sneak and steal your way through the stunning world established by 2012’s Of Orcs and Men.

Styx: Shards of Darkness has kept a number of features from the prequel that made it stand out from other stealth games of the time, Turning invisible and the ability to clone yourself will be a welcome sight for returning players of the series but with added features such as co-op mode where a friend can join you at any point in the game an open up new and exciting possibilities to succeed in your sneaky endeavours. Be sure to check out my video review for Styx: Shards of Darkness below…

Pros:

– Incredibly Pretty

– Great sense of humour

– Level design is fantastic

– Styx has an amazing personality

– Awesome abilities

– Co-op play

Cons:

– Climbing mechanic can sometimes be a pain

– Can become repetitive after playing long hours

Rating – 9/10

Styx: Shards of Darkness is available to purchase on all platforms March 14th 2017
