Vin Diesel closes deal to star in comic book adaptation Bloodshot

March 9, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in January it was revealed that Vin Diesel was in talks with Sony about taking on the lead role in Bloodshot, the upcoming comic book adaptation which will launch the Valiant Entertainment shared cinematic universe.

Well, it is now being reported that Diesel has officially signed on to portray Bloodshot, a.k.a. Ray Garrison, a mortally wounded soldier who finds himself resurrected using nanotechnology and given the task of hunting down superpowered outcasts known as harbingers. The character was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton and made his comic book debut in 1992.

The Bloodshot movie is being directed by visual effects supervisor Dave Wilson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) from a script by Eric Heisserer (Arrival). The film is slated to begin production in May, and is the first of a series of five planned Valiant movies alongside Harbinger, with the two ultimately crossing over with Harbinger Wars.

The character of Bloodshot is also set to appears in the upcoming web series Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe, where he will be portrayed by Mighty Morphin Power Rangers star Jason David Frank.
