Virgin River becomes Netflix’s longest-running original series with early Season 8 renewal

July 11, 2025 by Ricky Church

Virgin River fans can expect to visit the cosy small town for another season as Netflix has given it an early renewal for an eighth season, becoming the streamer’s longest-running series.

The series is based off Robyn Carr’s romance novels which follows Melinda, a nurse who moves to the smalltown of Virgin River to work at the local clinic, becoming friends with the close-knit residents and finding new love after a past tragedy.

With the eighth season renewal, Virgin River beats Netflix’s other series Orange is the New Black and Grace & Frankie after each of their seven seasons.  The seventh season wrapped production last week and while a premiere date has not yet been announced, it has been reported a late 2025 – early 2026 premiere is a likely release window.

Virgin River features a cast that includes Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Grazzini, Kai Bradbury and Kandyse McClure.
