Weeds’ Mateus Ward rumoured to have auditioned for Spider-Man role in Captain America: Civil War

March 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

With Spider-Man thought to be set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in next year’s Captain America: Civil War and shooting on the threequel set to get underway in just two weeks, Marvel and Sony will need to move fast to secure an actor to taking on the role of the wall-crawler.

Well, according to BadAssDigest, the audition process is already underway, as the site is reporting that 16-year-old Weeds star Mateus Ward has tested for the hotly-sought after role. Given that BadAssDigest cites a “new source”, this should probably be taken with a pinch of salt and filed firmly away in the rumour cabinet, but if Spidey is going to make an appearance in Civil War then we should probably expect an official casting announcement in the not-too-distant future.

Captain America: Civil War is set for release on April 29th 2016 in the UK and May 6th 2016 in the UK, with the rebooted Spider-Man solo movie due to land on July 28th 2017.
