Wonder Woman 1984 reportedly coming to Sky Cinema in the UK in January

December 4, 2020 by Gary Collinson

While fans in the United States are going to have the option of watching Wonder Woman 1984 – and Warner Bros.’ entire 2021 slate, following yesterday’s huge news – from the comfort of their own home thanks to an HBO Max premiere alongside its theatrical release, international audiences are going to have to make a trip to the cinema if they want to enjoy the Amazon Princess’ second solo outing.

However, here in the UK, it seems we may not have to wait out the traditional 16-week window to catch the sequel at home, as Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. and Sky are in talks to bring Wonder Woman 1984 to Sky Cinema as a premium VOD release a month after its December 16th debut on these shores.

Sky and WarnerMedia already have a well-established relationship, with Sky licensing much of HBO and Warner Bros.’ content and the two parties having signed a five-year extension to their ongoing output deal in 2019 (it’s this deal in particular which looks to prevent any chance of an HBO Max launch in the UK until 2024 at the earliest).

As yet, there’s no word on any PVOD price for Wonder Woman 1984, but with the film’s release fast approaching we should hopefully get some official news soon.

Wonder Woman 1984 reunites Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins with stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as Maxwell Lord, and Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
