Yahya Abdul-Mateen II teams with Dwayne Johnson for Emergency Contact

June 7, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Aquaman and Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is teaming with Dwayne Johnson for a new action thriller entitled Emergency Contact, which the duo are producing for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Based on a pitch from Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (writers on Johnson’s Black Adam movie), Emergency Contact is described as “a high-concept, high-octane action film set amid the underground music scene in Austin, Texas”.

Abdul-Mateen is set to star in the film and executive produce, while Johnson, Hiram Garcia and Dany Garcia will produce the film through Seven Bucks alongside The Rock’s frequent producing collaborator Beau Flynn (San Andreas, Skyscraper, Rampage).

Coming off his Emmy-winning role in HBO’s Watchmen, Abdul-Mateen has Candyman and The Matrix 4 incoming this year, and is also set to reunite with Warner Bros. on the DC sequel Aquaman 2 and George Miller’s Mad Max: Furiosa.
