Zac Efron set for dual roles in thriller Famous

February 11, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Zac Efron is coming off one of the highlights of his career, earning rave reviews for his turn in The Iron Claw. The actor is looking to follow it up with an equally intriguing project.

Deadline reports that Efron is currently attached to a new film, Famous, by filmmaker Jody Hill. The film is based on the acclaimed novel by author Blake Crouch and is adapted for the screen by Chad Hodge.

The story follows Lance Dunkquist, “who has one asset that’s about to change his life – he has the face of a movie star. And not just any movie star – Lance is the spitting image of a Hollywood icon, James Jansen. Lance is about to travel to Los Angeles to make his dream come true. Lance is going to be famous, no matter what it takes.” Efron will star in dual roles, playing Lance Dunkquist and James Jansen.

While Efron broke into the industry with the High School Musical franchise, the actor has done plenty since to shed his teen-heartthrob image and earn his place among some of the best actors. He is coming off The Iron Claw, and has got quite the jam-packed 2024 planned with Amazon Studios comedy Ricky Stanicky coming next month, and the Netflix comedy A Family Affair later this year.
