Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer sign on for Man of Steel 2

June 11, 2013 by admin

This won’t come as much of a surprise seeing as Man of Steel has already made over $170 million from promotional tie-ins and is shaping up to be one of the biggest movies of the year, but according to Deadline Warner Bros. Pictures has given the green light to director Zack Snyder and screenwriter David S. Goyer to fast track a sequel to the impending Superman reboot, which hits cinemas this Friday.

The report goes on to state that producer Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Rises) will take a back seat on Man of Steel 2, and that his role won’t be as “full blown” as it has been on Man of Steel, for which Nolan served as co-writer on the story. Furthermore, it’s said that Goyer’s involvement on the follow-up film is part of a three-picture deal he has with Warner, which also includes the studio’s long-planned Justice League ensemble, headed up of course by Henry Cavill’s Last Son of Krypton.

So there you have it – not only does Friday mark the return of Superman to the big screen, but also the first step in a wider DC movie universe.
