Zazie Beetz discusses her excitement at working with Joaquin Phoenix on the Joker movie

September 19, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Actress Zazie Beetz has revealed how excited she is about being able to work with Joaquin Phoenix on the Joker movie.

There’s a lot of unknown qualities regarding DC’s in-production Joker origin movie, especially considering the fact that Batman likely won’t play any part at all. We do know, however, about the ability of the man behind its title character, Joaquin Phoenix.

Phoenix is highly respected across the industry and the fact that he is involved in a project like this is a cause of excitement for many, and this includes his fellow cast members like Zazie Beetz. The Deadpool 2 actress spoke to E! News about it:

“I’m about to work on a movie with Joaquin Phoenix, and I am just such a huge fan. It’s just such an honor to work with him. And to follow him and his work, I think, it’s like anyone else. I’m human.”

Beetz was asked if she was able to reveal anything about the film but the actress replied: “I can’t. I’ll probably lose my job if I [say anything].”

Are you as excited about the prospect of Joaquin Phoenix in the Joker movie as Beetz? It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how this film comes together and what it ends up looking like upon completion.

Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Todd Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

Joker is set for release on October 4th 2019 and stars Joaquin Phoenix (The Sisters Brothers), Robert De Niro (Goodfellas), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Bill Camp (Red Sparrow), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Brett Cullen (Narcos), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful), Marc Maron (GLOW), Josh Pais (Motherless Brooklyn), and Shea Whigham (Kong: Skull Island).
