Zazie Beetz to star in horror They Will Kill You

June 13, 2024 by Ricky Church

Deadpool 2 and Joker actress Zazie Beetz will be taking the lead role in the horror film They Will Kill You, the first film to be produced under Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s newly formed production company Nocturna with Kirill Sokolov directing.

They Will Kill You follows Beetz as “a woman who answers a help-wanted ad to be a housekeeper in a mysterious New York City high-rise. She doesn’t realize she is entering a community that has seen a number of disappearances over the years.”

The news was announced by Deadline. Sokolov and Alex Litvak will write the script while the Muschiettis will produce alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Dan Kagan and Nocturna co-heads Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder.

Andy and Barbara Muschietti formed Notcurna earlier this year in a partnership with Skydance to produce horror films for both theatrical and streaming releases. The pair are known for adapting Stephen King’s classic novel It in a two-part film with Andy Muschietti directing. He is currently developing a prequel series Welcome to Derry, which recently announced Bill Skarsgård will reprise his role as the fearsome Pennywise. He also recently directed The Flash and is currently attached to direct Batman: Brave and the Bold for James Gunn’s DC on film slate.

Beetz, meanwhile, has lent her voice to the animated series Invincible and is known for her role in Atlanta.
